Question 2

A seascape but which seascape?
The ocean wrapped me
in the kitchen,
kept me warm in the knowledge
it was not my blood
on the shower floor.

I washed in the sink,
shaved my head with cutlery,
burnt my skin on the morning sun.
‘eighteen watts and inconsistent.’

Wait for the fire alarm,
feed me to the church,
the others will never notice,
I’m still marking in Hertz.

Question 1

What glory do you find in Cornwall?
I find it in the chough,
in nests built on acrylic landscapes
with legend imbued in its genes,
the once common, no longer chattering
compositional bird ascends.
Every detail seared on its iris,
every magnificent horizon etched,
it finds the majesty in every hand
held and reborn again.
